What changed in September 2024
For years, Ivorians could travel to Morocco without a visa. That is no longer the case: since 1 September 2024, a visa has been required for Ivorian passport holders, even for a simple holiday in Marrakech or Casablanca. If you were used to heading off on a whim, you now need to plan ahead for this step.
Two ways to get your visa
Depending on your situation, there are two options:
| Option | Who is it for? | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Consular visa | All Ivorian travellers | 14,000 FCFA for a single entry (about 25 USD) |
| Morocco e-Visa (online) | Holders of a valid multiple-entry visa or residence permit (Schengen, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, etc.) | 770 MAD |
The length of stay given for the visa is 30 days; this should be confirmed when you apply, as it may depend on the visa actually issued.
The consular visa
This is the most common route. You apply to Morocco's consular services with a complete file. Expect to pay 14,000 FCFA for a single entry. Processing time is not fixed: submit your application as soon as your dates are confirmed.
The e-Visa: an option with conditions
The Morocco e-Visa is quicker to apply for, but it is only open to Ivorians who already hold a valid multiple-entry visa or residence permit from a country or area such as the Schengen Area, the United States, the United Kingdom or Canada. It costs 770 MAD. If this applies to you, let your adviser know: they will check that your visa or permit meets the validity conditions.
What documents should you prepare?
This is not a substitute for the official list, which may change, but a tourist visa application generally includes:
- a valid passport and recent passport photos;
- the completed application form;
- your return flight and accommodation bookings;
- proof of your employment and financial means;
- for the e-Visa, a copy of the visa or residence permit that makes you eligible.

When to go to Morocco
For Marrakech and the Agafay Desert, the best months are March, April, May, September, October and November. In October, temperatures are ideal, between 18 and 28°C, with cool evenings in the desert. Summer is very hot in Marrakech, while spring brings superb light and gardens in bloom.

Good to know
In the souks, haggling is part of the fun: start at around half the asking price and always keep smiling. The local currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD), and no vaccinations are compulsory for this trip. Entry rules change regularly: the information in this article reflects the MALYA travel requirements matrix checked on 31 October 2026. Before every departure, our advisers check the current requirements for you (visa, health, documents) and let you know about any changes.
