Turkey visa for Ivorians: how to apply and our top tips

Istanbul and Cappadocia are just a direct flight from Abidjan. For Ivorians, the Turkish visa is applied for at a diplomatic mission: here is how to get organised.

A visa to apply for before you leave

For a holiday in Turkey, Ivorian passport holders must obtain a visa from a Turkish diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate). Unlike some other nationalities, Ivorians cannot use the Turkish online e-Visa. The process therefore calls for a little more planning.

Length of stayDepends on the visa issued

Consular fees and the permitted length of stay depend on the visa issued. We prefer not to give an approximate figure: your MALYA adviser will tell you the current amount when putting your application together.

How does the application work?

  1. Choose your dates and confirm your itinerary: flights, hotels, excursions.
  2. Prepare your application according to the list provided by the relevant Turkish mission.
  3. Submit your application and pay the consular fees.
  4. Collect your passport with the visa, then check the validity dates before you travel.

Documents usually requested

The official list may change; as a guide, a tourist visa application often includes:

  • a valid passport and recent passport photos;
  • the completed application form;
  • return flight and accommodation bookings;
  • proof of financial means (bank statements) and of employment;
  • travel insurance, which is strongly recommended.

With MALYA, you receive a clear booking confirmation for every stage of the trip, and our advisers review your application to make sure it is complete and consistent.

How long should you allow?

Processing time is not fixed: it depends on the mission and the time of year. Submit your application as soon as your trip is confirmed, rather than waiting until the last few weeks, especially for spring and autumn departures, the busiest seasons.

Istanbul, between two continents

Istanbul is one of the few cities in the world to straddle two continents, on either side of the Bosphorus. Formerly Byzantium and then Constantinople, it was the capital of two great empires, which explains the wealth of its monuments. It is also a food capital: meze, grilled meats, pastries made with honey and pistachios, and tea served at all hours in small tulip-shaped glasses. For shopping, the bazaars are famous for carpets, textiles, ceramics and spices: as is often the case, haggling is expected.

When to go to Turkey

The best months for our tour are April, May, June, September and October. Spring and autumn are mild and ideal for walking around Istanbul and exploring the valleys of Cappadocia. Summer is hot, and winter can be cold, sometimes with snow in Cappadocia.

Our 8-day Istanbul & Cappadocia trip

Turkey is one of the easiest destinations to reach: a direct Turkish Airlines flight links Abidjan to Istanbul in around 7 hours, followed by a domestic flight of around 1 hr 15 min to Cappadocia. Our Turkey – Istanbul & Cappadocia tour is available from 770,000 FCFA per person, flights from Abidjan included. Highlights include:

  • Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Basilica Cistern;
  • a cruise on the Bosphorus, between Europe and Asia;
  • the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar;
  • a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over Cappadocia;
  • the Göreme Open-Air Museum and an underground city;
  • an evening in a traditional hammam.

Good to know

Hot-air balloon flights depend on the weather: we schedule two mornings in Cappadocia to maximise your chances. Locally, the currency is the Turkish lira (TRY) and bank cards are widely accepted. No specific vaccinations are required, but travel insurance is recommended. Entry rules change regularly: the information in this article reflects the MALYA travel requirements matrix checked on 31 October 2026. Before every departure, our advisers check the current requirements for you (visa, health, documents) and let you know about any changes.
