Travelling visa-free with an Ivorian passport

The Ivorian passport opens many doors, especially in Africa thanks to free movement within ECOWAS and the exemptions granted to African citizens. Further afield, a few dream destinations also welcome Ivorians without a visa in advance. Here is our selection, based on our travel requirements matrix and our trips.

West Africa: ECOWAS freedom

Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria and Benin are visa-free for 90 days, with direct flights from Abidjan. In Nigeria, an online landing card is compulsory. For Cape Verde, there is no visa either, but EASE pre-registration and an airport security tax of 3,400 CVE (about 36 USD) are required. To combine two countries, discover our Senegal + Cape Verde trip, from 690,000 FCFA per person, flights from Abidjan included.

Elsewhere in Africa

Rwanda grants African Union citizens visa-free entry for 30 days: ideal for our Kigali, Akagera and gorillas tour. Kenya welcomes Ivorians visa-free for 60 days, with no eTA. Tunisia is visa-free for 90 days. For Congo, the exemption is reported by several sources but still needs to be confirmed when you apply; the removal of visas for Africans has been announced for 1 January 2027.

Asia: Singapore and the Philippines

Singapore welcomes Ivorians visa-free for 30 days, with an SG Arrival Card to be completed online free of charge. The Philippines are also visa-free for 30 days, extendable, on presentation of a return ticket and a passport valid for 6 months.

Visa-on-arrival destinations

  • Maldives: free visa on arrival for 30 days, IMUGA declaration compulsory.
  • Mauritius: free visa on arrival for 60 days; return ticket, hotel booking and funds (100 USD per day) required.
  • Namibia: visa on arrival at NAD 1,200 (about 70 USD), with the option of applying online (e-VoA).
  • Cambodia: visa on arrival at 30 USD, or an e-Visa at the same price.

What about easy e-Visas?

Other destinations require a simple electronic visa: Tanzania and Zanzibar (50 USD), Dubai (about 57 USD via a sponsor), South Africa (about 24 USD), Uzbekistan (20 USD), Vietnam (25 USD) or Thailand (about 30 USD). See our travel requirements page for details.

Good to know

“Visa-free” does not mean “formality-free”: many destinations require a yellow fever certificate (Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Rwanda, Kenya, Mauritius, the Maldives…), a return ticket or an online declaration. Always keep your vaccination card with your passport. Entry rules change regularly: the information in this article reflects the MALYA travel requirements matrix checked on 31 October 2026. Before every departure, our advisers check the current requirements for you (visa, health, documents) and let you know about any changes.
