How to read this calendar
For each destination, we show the months when conditions are most favourable: pleasant weather, dry season, calm seas or the best wildlife viewing. These are the recommendations our advisers use to build our trips. Travelling outside these months is often still possible, but with more heat, rain or crowds.

The big trends of the year
November to March: head for the sun
This is high season for Dubai, Thailand, the Maldives, Mexico and Senegal. It is also the most comfortable time for Umrah and for Egypt, when the heat eases. December is in high demand and should be booked well in advance.
April to June: springtime in the north
Morocco, Turkey, Japan, Italy and Greece are at their best, with mild temperatures and beautiful light. It is also the start of the dry season in Bali.
July to October: safaris and the Indian Ocean
The dry season is perfect for safaris in Kenya and the beaches of Zanzibar. Mauritius enjoys its mild southern winter, and September and October bring back the fine season in the Mediterranean and Morocco.
Don't forget the entry requirements
The right month is not enough: some destinations require a visa that you need to arrange in advance, such as the Schengen Area for Italy and Greece, Turkey, Egypt or Morocco. Others, such as Kenya or Senegal, are visa-free for Ivorians, and the Maldives and Mauritius issue a visa on arrival. Find all the details on our travel requirements page.
Good to know
The most pleasant periods are also the busiest: school holidays, the year-end festivities and long weekends get booked up early. For a better price, consider aiming for the start or the end of the high season.
